Sant Antoni de Portmany

Sant Antoni de Portmany is also called Sant Antoni in Catalan and popularly in San Antonio in Spanish. Sant Antoni is the second largest town in Ibiza and is a major tourist spot on the island. This city is located near all the famous beaches on the island: ( Cala Bassa, Cala Tarida ). Passeig de la mar, a walk situated around the San Antoni Bay ( Badia de Portmany ), is a lovely place to stroll around at night. At one end of the walk is the Sa Punta de Moli (a place where the Ibicencans maintain an old mill), while at the other is the San Antonio center with the beautiful fountain that dances to music. The sunset is another one of the popular attractions of San Antoni . The best place to view the sunset is near the world famous bars Café del Mar , Savannah and Mambo . An island popularly known by clubbers as the clubbing capital of the world, it is located along San Antoni Bay on the island and make up the archipelago of Pitiusas along with the island Formentera. From its origins as a small fishing village, Sant Antoni began to boom late 1950s when, as part of a massive tourism drive which took place all over Spain, many hotels and resorts were erected in the area. Today, Sant Antoni is home to two of the biggest nightclubs in the world, Eden and Es Paradis , and has the distinction of having the best DJs in the world.

Rural Ibiza is a refreshing discovery for those used to thinking of the island as a nightlife hotspot. Much of it is, as a matter of fact, bucolic, charming and peaceful. Compared to the other towns on the island of Ibiza , whose traditions over the years have given way to the demands of the booming tourist industry, the Municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja is to this day still dependent on cattle-raising and agriculture.

A complete mini resort and one of Ibiza s best known spots, Cala de Portinatx is situated in the northern area of the island, in the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja . There are three excellent sandy beaches in the area of Portiatx offering a variety of activities such as windsurfing, pedaloes and diving. The largest beach is on the bay and offers a breathtaking panoramic view and a seabed of powdery white sand. It is across from the main Coach Park, S'Arenal Gros. The more private one, S Arenal Petit , is a smaller beach and is right around the corner from the bay. Porto Beach , situated in a sheltered inlet at the end of the main road, is surrounded by pine tree covered hillocks.
